Micrometers and millimeters are metric units that measure length. With the treaty signed in 1959 by the International System of Units, it was established that 1 millimeter (mm) is equal to 1,000 micrometers (µm), so there are 1,000 µm in one mm.
Difference between Micrometers and Millimeters

The millimeter can be defined as being equivalent to the distance travelled by light in vacuum in 1/299,792,458,000 seconds. The wavelength of 300 GHz microwaves is 1 mm. Millimeters are usually the smallest units depicted on a standard ruler.
How to convert Micrometers to Millimeters
